Accounts Payable & Daily Accounting Clerk

Job Summary

The Accounts Payable and Daily Accounting Clerk is responsible for daily accounting functions, accounts payable processing, and general office functions. Salary range for this position is $18 to $20 per hour, dependent upon experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Administration
    • Daily Accounting Functions:
      • Upload Point of Sale system information daily into the Accounting System (QuickBooks).
      • Reconcile assigned stores daily z-outs, working with Store Managers as necessary.
    • Accounts Payable Functions: 
      • Recording and reconciling of assigned Vendors, which includes almost 100 vendors with over two million dollars in inventory.
      • Daily interface with the Purchasing and Warehouse Managers to reconcile receiving issues with vendor invoices.
      • Strict attention and analysis of prepayment discounts.
    • General Office:
      • Responsible for office supply management and shipping supplies to stores.
      • Miscellaneous general office duties.
  • Compliance to Company Standards
    • Maintains employee confidence and protects accounting operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Projects a favorable image of Bike Barn to promote its objectives. Fosters and enhances public recognition and acceptance of all of its areas of endeavor.


  • Possess the following key traits: analyzing information, data entry, attention to detail, confidentiality, thoroughness, and organization.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in QuickBooks a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extensive time periods; while occasionally walking, kneeling, reaching, or standing.
  • Ability to move or handle merchandise generally weighing up to 15 pounds.
