Assistant Retail Store Manager - Cypress

Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager provides leadership role in the store by assisting the store manager in staff management and all operational duties in the store. This position provides direction and leadership in all aspects of the store including creating an environment that is positive and welcoming to our customers. Our ultimate goal is to provide an unforgettable customer experience and deliver the best customer experience in Houston.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Manager is responsible for but not limited to the following:

 Customer Service

  • Consistently demonstrates a friendly, enthusiastic, positive attitude.
  • Welcomes customers with a smile and greeting at all times.
  • Assists customers in selecting product and accessories.
  • Provides customers with thorough information in their potential product selections.
  • Answers phone calls cheerfully and professionally, ensures immediate assistance is given, and manages short hold times.
  • Consistently stays knowledgeable; maintaining education on new bikes, technology, and all products.
  • Assistant Manager should have all the above traits and be able to lead staff in achieving the same.

 Management and Administration

  • Assists Store Manager in training and development of new staff members.
  • Holds staff accountable to all customer service initiatives.
  • Promotes a clean store environment at all times.
  • Manages Area of Responsibilities (AORs), Closing Checklists, and Test Ride Forms.
  • Ensures merchandise displays are organized and attractive to maximize sales potential, as well as correct product placement and tagging.
  • Strives to meet all company driven sales goals and objectives, and drives staff to meet store goals.
  • Maintains thorough and accurate knowledge in all store functions, as well as proper training of employees in all store functions.
  • Ensures all Company policies are followed by all staff at all times, including procedures for loss prevention.
  • Fills position as Store Manager in their absence.

  •  Maintains a positive working relationship with all company employees and keeps a “team” approach in dealing with fellow employees and customers.
  • Contributes to a fun working climate; which helps boost employee morale, productivity, and effectiveness.
  • Projects a favorable image of Bike Barn, inside and outside of the store.



  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Enjoys helping people!
  • Understands and follow oral and written instructions. Communicates clearly to customers, supervisors, and fellow employees.
  • Ability to effective lead others.
  • Prior sales and customer service experience required, preferably in a bike shop setting.
  • Prior management experience required.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to lift product overhead generally weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extensive time periods; while occasionally walking, kneeling, reaching, or sitting.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.

**Salary range for this position is $30k to $35k plus quarterly bonuses and monthly commissions, commensurate experience.
